Me Too . . . Bullshit

This movement has finally got my goat, and my love of goats cries out for me to speak my mind.

My understanding of this movement was support of women that have been “sexually harassed” and to raise awareness. According to Me Too Movement, “the ‘me too’ movement helps survivors of sexual violence, particularly young women of color from low wealth communities, find pathways to healing. Our vision from the beginning was to address both the dearth in resources for survivors of sexual violence and to build a community of advocates, driven by survivors, who will be at the forefront for creating solutions to interrupt sexual violence in their communities.”

That’s all find and dandy, but I can’t help notice they are speaking of sexual violence. To me that is entirely different than sexual harassment. The difference being between rape (violent) versus repeated/continued inappropriate comments/suggestions (harassment).

The Truth: The Me Too Movement was hijacked to make a political statement.

First of all, why is this movement only restricted to women? Men are victims of sexual harassment as well, me being one of them. I had a job where one of the owners like to tease me. That was fine; I could handle that. What I did not like was her hands on me for any reason at all!

Secondly, who is holding all the survivors accountable, who had been “sexually harassed” in the past and by their silence, allowed future, additional victims to be subjected to the harasser?

Until someone is willing to elucidate, that is my opinion and I’m sticking to it!
